Financial Information

Chapter financial information is collected to allow OFSL staff to understand the range and average costs of joining and remaining a member of a fraternity and sorority. While we don't share chapter-specific information, it is important we have a general sense of the range of costs to better educate potential members and their families.

New/Prospective Member Dues Per Semester*

This is the total amount a new or prospective member pays in the semester they join the organization. It includes local chapter dues as well as any one-time initiation fees or financial obligations owed to the (inter)national organization. This should not include housing, room and board, or out of house/parlor fees (if applicable), which will be provided below. This should be the TOTAL amount a new/prospective member will pay in the first semester excluding any applicable housing costs.

Active Member Dues Per Semester*

This is the total chapter dues that an active member pays in the organization in a given semester. It includes any fees collected to be sent to the (inter)national organization and retained locally. This should not include housing, room and board, or out of house/parlor fees (if applicable), which will be provided below.

Once again, this is the cost an individual member pays to live in the facility each semester. Please do not include the total rent paid by all members or a monthly rate. This is the all-inclusive amount a single member pays to live in the facility for one semester.

What is included in the room and board cost?*

This should include things like laundry, housekeeping, meals per week, utilities, amenities like cable, snack room access, etc.

What are the "out of house" costs per semester for members not living in the facility?*

This is sometimes referred to as a "parlor fee," and is charged to members not living in the facility to cover usage costs. Again, this is the cost a member not living in the facility pays each semester.

What is included in the out of house cost?*

This should include things like meals per week, access to the facility, etc.
