The mission of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women is to promote friendship, develop women of intellect and integrity, cultivate leadership potential and enrich lives through community service.
Read>Lead>Achieve. – Pi Beta Phi’s philanthropic effort, which inspires a lifelong love of reading that can unlock true potential, creating a more literate and productive society. We believe in the power of reading. We believe reading always has been — and always will be — a powerful step toward a life of enduring impact. We believe that when one out of four children grows up unable to read, that’s one child too many. For more than a century, we’ve committed ourselves to creating a more literate and productive society.
One child … one moment at a time … one life changed forever.
Champions Are Readers (CAR) is a key component of our philanthropic cause, Read>Lead>Achieve. Members are paired with elementary students as a reading buddy. Each semester, Pi Phi’s get to have a positive presence in our local community, as they strengthen the reading and comprehension skills of their reading buddy; all while building lasting relationships with kids and the community.
Lemonade for Literacy takes place during the month of September (National Literacy Month) where Pi Phi’s can be found on the LSC plaza handing out lemonade and spreading awareness about illiteracy.
