Welcome Back and Move-In Reminders

Welcome back, fraternity and sorority members!

We are thrilled to welcome you back to CSU and wish you well as you get settled and ready to start a new semester!

The start of the fall semester also means that it is time to volunteer for residence hall move-in! The opportunity to assist new students moving into the halls is an opportunity reserved exclusively for the CSU fraternity and sorority community due to the tremendous job you do year after year. The community’s volunteer efforts during move-in truly showcase what fraternity and sorority is all about. You should be proud of the hard work that you do each year; we certainly are!

We also want to take a moment to recognize and express our appreciation for our fraternity and sorority members who are giving up their week to assist these new students with the transition into CSU – our Ram Welcome Leaders. This year 65% of the RWL team are members of fraternities and sororities. We appreciate all that you are doing to welcome these new members of the Ram family!

To ensure that everyone has an accurate understanding of the expectations and responsibilities of move-in volunteers, we are requiring that all members assisting with move-in attend their assigned training, which are provided below. You do not need to RSVP – please just show up for the training with your chapter prior to your scheduled move in shift. All volunteers need to attend a training in order to be allowed into the halls. It is likely your chapter president has, or will, communicate this information to you as well.

As you all would have seen, Colorado State University has issued a mask mandate for indoor spaces. Each of you will need to bring a mask as you volunteer for move-in and will be required to wear a mask while inside any university building, this includes Clark A101 for training and each residence hall you enter while assisting students to move in. If any of you own masks with chapter letters on them this would be a great opportunity to show your chapter pride while working to keep our Ram community healthy.

Lastly, we want to share some helpful reminders as you prepare for your move-in shifts:

All members must wear closed-toe shoes, the official green move in shirt and a mask (while indoors). Volunteers will not be allowed to assist with move-in without these items, and thus will not count towards the chapter’s move-in requirements if they are sent home to change. Please wear them when you arrive for your shift!

It has been very hot over the last few days, so we encourage each of you to bring a water bottle, that can be refilled in the fill stations in the residence halls.

There is far less parking than available in previous years due to construction and increased numbers of students living on-campus, so please do all that you can to park off campus, walk, take the Max or Ram’s Horn, or carpool. It will be very difficult to find parking on campus, and we highly encourage you to make alternate transportation plans.

We look forward to seeing you all in just a few short days! If you have any questions, please reach out to your chapter presidents.

Thank you!
