CSU Fraternity & Sorority Life – National Ritual Celebration Week

The Fraternity & Sorority Programming Board would like to invite all members of the fraternity and sorority community to participate in National Ritual Celebration Week!

Each year fraternities and sororities observe National Ritual Celebration Week, this year’s celebration will be March 7-11, 2022. During this week, individual fraternity and sorority members, campus communities, and (inter)national organizations reflect on the importance of organizational Ritual, histories, and values. Please read through the information below to learn how you and your chapter can engage in National Ritual Celebration Week:

Participate in International Badge Day/Show Your Organizational Pride
Nationally, this week commences with “International Badge Day” on Monday, March 7, 2022. On this day members of the fraternity and sorority community wear symbols of their organizational values through their badges, fraternity pins, letters, line jackets, tikis, organizational colors, etc. To celebrate your experience as a fraternity/sorority member, we hope that you will consider wearing an item of your choosing that represents your organization on Monday, March 7, 2022.

Review and Reflection of Organizational Ritual
As a chapter or individually review your organization’s Ritual and reflect on how your organizational values are practiced and upheld. Consider reflecting on the following questions:

  • What role does Ritual/organization ceremonies play in your chapter?
  • What role would you like your Ritual to play in your chapter?
  • What values were important to you before you joined your chapter? What values are important to you now? Why?
  • What role do you see the Ritual and values of your organization playing throughout your life?

Engage on social media
The Programming Board (@csufslprogrammingboard) will be hosting a friendly Instagram competition throughout the week in which each chapter will be awarded points for posting pictures on chapter official Instagram accounts that are in alignment with the prompt of each day. The chapter from each council that earns the most points at the end of the week wins. NRCW prizes include a philanthropy donation to be donated to the 501c3 (non-profit) organization of the winners choosing.
