On March 20, 2021, it was reported via a Fort Collins community member that there was a party with 100+ people, they described little to no social distancing. Fort Collins Police Services confirmed that they were dispatched to a loud party. Upon arrival officers witnessed approximately 100-150 openly drinking and partying, including loud music playing.

      recruitment events are permitted within the chapter facility, on the property of the chapter
      facility, or a residence of any member of the organization.

Incident Description:

A “Pi Kapp” St. Patrick’s Day party was reported on March 20 that allegedly occurred on March 17 at a house at which members of Pi Kappa Phi live. Photos of the event were posted on Instagram on March 17. One of the captions for the photos depicts individuals with large jugs containing a green liquid with a caption that states “the power of green thunder.”

Environmental Health Services at Colorado State University shared that through contact tracing of students who tested positive for COVID-19 several individuals reported attending a party with more than 50 people “at Pi Kapp” on March 12, 2021. Those students specifically stated that the party was hosted by Pi Kappa Phi.

A report was received in regards to the new member process for members of Pi Kappa detailing the chapter hosting a party for new members immediately after they signed their bids. At this event, new members were allowed to consume alcohol although they were under the age of 21. In addition, this event would have violated current expectations in place for COVID-19 gatherings being limited to no more than 10 people.

  • Members of the chapter exited the chapter facility without wearing face coverings in order to be tested by CSU’s mobile COVID testing unit. In addition, members of the chapter allowed a maintenance worker into the chapter facility where individuals were known to be positive with COVID19. The member who answered the door in addition to other brothers were seen without facial coverings.
